If you are reading this expecting some revolutionary new training tips, you’ve come to the wrong place. I’m no expert but I do a TON of research online. From blogs to media websites, if its about marathon training, running or CrossFit, I’ve probably read it. In fact, I am going to compile a list of all my favorites and post that soon.
Drink So Much Water: I drink about 12 oz of water an hour while I’m at my desk. Keep drinking all night long, too.
When Sharing The Street With Cars: Run AGAINST traffic so that they can see you, you can see them. Its also not super safe to wear headphones, but I keep mine on a low volume. I definitely WON’T be needing them on 4.21.14.
Write Things Down: Its important to keep track of how far you are going, what pace you could hold, and how you felt doing it. You’ll be able to track progress, but also make note of important things like “I can run 10 miles at 9:00 min mile pace, but if I do 11 or 12 miles, I have to drop my pace.”
You Are What You Eat: Don’t eat pizza the night before a long training run. Make good choices.
When In Doubt, Wear Neon Pink Pants:
Really like the last one. Everything is better in pink!
Clearly! 🙂
Great post. Love the pink tights! Pink just goes so well with running.
Been desperately looking to justify my purchase of neon pink running pants other than fashion. Can’t wait for the research to back up my life choice!
Oh, Ed. Just wear the pants and stop worrying about what people will think of you.
I actually LOVE pizza the night before a long run. . . homemade so not super greasy, but it works for me!
Ha, love this. I actually have pizza the night before most long runs (we typically do Friday night pizza) but sometimes I feel like I should have opted for the grilled chicken and veggies! But pizza is THE BEST
I feel like if done well, it’s a good balance of carbs and protein, right? 🙂
Absolutely 🙂
I’d say as long as you don’t eat pizza DURING the run, you’ll be okay…although now I’m tempted… 😉 and I agree about the pink!
This made me laugh 🙂 I think I just might try to eat and run one day…
Great tips. I posted some tips for new runners at, http://fitfor365.wordpress.com/2013/12/30/running-tips/
